I have just been named as one of the best 6 British jewellers by Frances Hedges, who is acting Deputy Editor of Harpers’ Bazaar UK in an article she penned for Pride of Britain Hotels. Frances described my jewellery as the very definition of ‘wearable art’. I am in excellent company - alongside Alex Monroe and Dinny Hall! Thank you, Frances.
FASCINATING TRIP TO MYANMAR
In January 2020 I had the privilege to travel for 2 weeks in Myanmar in the company of some fantastic female guides who were able to share their stories and the history of this beautiful country. One of the highlights of my stay was to visit the village of the Padaung tribe in the Kayah State.
Whilst many of the younger generation choose not to wear neckcoils, or choose to wear lighter versions, I met three grandmothers who were proud, beautiful and welcoming.
PRUE LEITH'S FAVOURITE NECKLACE!
Photo: Tom Pilston for the Financial Times
So thrilled to see an interview with Prue Leith about her jewellery in the Financial Times - and to read that this necklace is her favourite one! It was created as a unique ‘show stopper’ piece as part of my Out of Line collection and was acquired by Prue earlier this year having ‘lusted after’ it at an exhibition at the Contemporary Applied Arts. I am very flattered not just because of her great style and celebrity status, but mostly because she was a highly successful independent business woman and an incredible chef.
HEADING to northampton uni
I am very excited to be heading back to uni - I will be spending a week at the Institute for Creative Leather Technologies at Northampton University in June. Part funded by the Leathersellers' Company, the course will be a hands exploration in a tannery about how different types of leather are produced. I am sure my chemistry degree will be very useful!
